- We started off last weekend with Angela and family (and au pair!) arriving Friday night. We had a great weekend...kids played happily (for the most part :-), we explored, relaxed, celebrated Anna-Christina's birthday, and generally just enjoyed the weekend!
- On Wednesday evening, the girls and I went to pick up my mom and dad! Yay! It was so much fun to watch for them to come out those "arrival" doors! I think all 4 girls chattered the entire 40 minutes home from the airport. We went straight to AC's soccer game, then came home for ice cream.
*P.S. This post may seem like a bit of a journal entry - feel free to skip it, but I know my sisters are wanting to know what we're up to. *
- On Thursday, Olivia and Papa went to the lookoff, and soon Olivia came running in saying, "The tall ships are coming! The tall ships are coming!" So we all jumped in the van and spent about an hour down there watching them come in with their massive sails and rigging. Amazing. Dad got some awesome pictures so maybe later I can steal them and post some.
- Friday morning we decided to go downtown to get a better look at the ships. There are some pretty incredible vessels here. They are from all over the world, and I think there are around 20-30 in port right now. Amazing.
- This morning Mom and I got up early and headed to the Farmer's market. It's always fun to go there, even if my bags didn't look like everyone else's with fresh flowers, artisan bread and amazing pastries hanging out of every corner :-) I did find some baby lettuce, wheat, and beef...
When we got back, the guys were making breakfast, which was very yummy!
- Tomorrow we are invited to a bbq with Daryl's work. It's at someone's cottage, and the plan is to go sailing in his boat. So we're all very excited about that. I'm off to bake a carrot cake for the potluck (in my "new" $50 convection oven!).

Things that keep me from blogging...
...a trip to PEI! Free rooms for 3 nights (thanks to Daryl getting sent there for work), sunshine (yes!), quiet beaches, gentle water (they don't call it the Gentle Island for nothing), swimming...'twas a good time
...strawberry picking - to celebrate Canada Day and Daryl's birthday, we picked 20 quarts! We went with friends, had a picnic lunch, fed baby goats, ate ice cream, then everyone came over for a birthday supper. Thank you, God, for new friends that feel like family.
...finding things to keep the kids from too much screen time. It is STILL foggy and you can literally feel it. I send the kids out anyway. They have some great play mates on our street!
...praying for nice weather. Okay, so that doesn't really keep me from blogging, but I am praying for some nice weather.
...keeping Emilie out of trouble. She has discovered how to get out of her playpen now (where she sleeps). Today I was outside chatting with the neighbor lady (in the rain/fog) and here comes Emilie walking out the door - after I had put her down for a nap.
...getting groceries. Yes, every time I turn around the fridge is once again empty and it is my motherly/wifely duty to fill it up with good things to eat. :-) I am really, really excited about filling up my freezer/pantry with produce this summer.
...reading good books. I'm so glad I got inspired by everyone's reading suggestions. I've finished my third book (not bad, for me) and I'm ready to dig into the next one. I just finished Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall. It is another book about a teenage bride in the FLDS cult, only this time it details the trial of the man at fault. Very interesting. But I think I can go without one of those books for awhile now.
...trying to get organized for our upcoming guests! (Angie and family, and then my parents!) I'm glad neither set of guests will be looking for dust in the corners. :-)
...and that about sums up my life...
