It's Friday...and other stuff

- It's Friday! We're heading out for the weekend...taking the kids to a small amusement park! Not my choice of fun things to do on Spring Break, but it is my choice to see my kids having fun and doing something that they've been hearing about. We're going to a hotel with a pool, and just hoping for a relaxing weekend away. Our friend M is joining us on Saturday, and Daryl says that she and I have Saturday afternoon "off" - to shop by ourselves!!! Woot woot! I'm not looking forward to the decision making and the busy malls, but I am looking forward to -hopefully - coming home with a few new items that I am sorely lacking.

- Emilie has had a rough couple of nights. She has a cold, and when she has a cold she gets a bit of asthmatic wheezing. She coughed for roughly 1 hour solid last night, and then I heard her on and off the rest of the night. Right now she is sleeping on the couch where I put her when she joined me downstairs around 6am. I'm trying to keep the other kids quiet...

- The girls are FINALLY back in their new bedrooms!!! There is new carpet and the walls are beautiful shades of blue and green. We haven't moved any of their stuff in yet other than their beds. Along with changing rooms (we rearranged everyone), Emilie graduated to a toddler bed. The first night she was in there she lasted until about 11pm. Then she slept in our bed. Around 2am, I woke up soaked in her pee. I don't know if I've ever flown out of bed so fast.

- We're thoroughly enjoying spring break. We've spontaneously made donuts with friends, hiked, played outside a lot, had playdates with other kids/moms, the girls have baked and cooked, and other things. My family has heard me talk about our friend M...On Wednesday she picked up the 2 oldest girls and took them out for breakfast. Then they went to both malls and came back around noon! It was great for them.

- Right now I am reading Bitter Roots, Tender Shoots - The Uncertain Fate of Afghanistan's Women, by Sally Armstrong. Wow, is it ever eye-opening. I'm only in the first part of the book, but I'm "enjoying" it, if you can enjoy a book like that.

- Happy Friday!

I'm back...

Oh wow, I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've blogged. That is way too long. I've been feeling slightly -no very- exhausted. (Rabbit trail: I'm trying to find the source for this exhaustion...and no, I'm not pregnant) Here is what we've been up to...

- painting. painting. painting.

- I've been painting the girls rooms and it seems to take forever. My wonderful friend, M, helped me for 2 days, and now I just have to do touch ups. I've been working on it for over a week now. Daryl has helped when he could, but he's been working lots.

- As a result of my being consumed with painting, the house has completely fallen apart. There is literally a path in the hall upstairs. Obviously we had to move the girls out of their rooms, so all their stuff is in the hall. I will be so glad when we're done.

- Like I said, Daryl has been working lots. This is probably partly what makes me feel exhausted! I get really tired of not having dinner together and putting kids to bed by myself. This is probably the most he's worked since we moved here, so I should not complain! Next week will be better.

- Olivia has a huge boil on her knee right now. Okay, I know that's gross. It expelled itself during gym class today and, wow! I have to admit I'm glad I wasn't there. It's bad. I mean bad. Thankfully her personal pediatrician is not concerned and reminded me that he used to get them when he was a kid. *Shudder* (I know right now his sisters are thinking of a certain beautiful photo they have of him w/ a boil!) :-)

- I've been thoroughly enjoying the cooking magazines I get from the library. [I keep wishing my sisters lived close by and we would have a gourmet night once a month (or hey, maybe even once a week) and see if we could out-cook each other. Just a dream.] Right now we're really into arugula and kale...Mmmm.

- There are little green shoots coming up in my flower beds. YAY!!! Once again, I'm going to pretend I'm a gardener and hopefully add another layer of knowledge to the very-tiny-green-thumb part of my brain! I'm hoping for a very small vegetable garden this year...
Sporting new vests!
I guess maybe if her mother dressed her properly her feet wouldn't be so cold.

Adrienne's 4th Birthday

We had her party on Valentine's Day, so the theme was obvious! I don't usually go "all out", but it was fun to do everything in pink and red hearts!

Just had to show off her hair. When it's wet it is past her waist!
