We're back!!! I'm impressed that I'm actually getting an update done in the same week we got home! It's been rather crazy around here...needless to say. After approximately 60 hours in the van, there is a lot of cleaning up and unpacking to do!
It was so good to see family and old friends. I got to spend an afternoon with Sabrina, and we even found a cute little cafe that served us awesome sandwiches. What fun to catch up and talk eachother's ears off! (And thank God, we didn't get lost this time!) And our husbands have now met eachother!
Of course Mom and Dad S. were great hosts! It was nice to have some time to sit and drink coffee, to be able to watch the kids getting re-acquainted with their grandparents, to get some good ol' USA shopping in, to see Hershey's Chocolate World, and all the other fun things we did. Of course there was not enough time to do everything we wished, but we are grateful for what we had. Thanks too, to Kerry and Jennifer for your part in being hosts -we really enjoyed our visit with you all. I regret that I didn't get pictures to share of Kerry and Jennifer, Randy, Kenton, Marcia and Kirk and Karla. My camera batteries died and my spares were not close by.
Speaking of those people...
On our way home, we stopped in Ohio and had a very nice visit with Kirk and Karla, and Marcia. Of course Kirk and Karla were great hosts, feeding us wonderful food and taking us to the ZOO! (Yeah, just a little larger than the one here...) It was good to spend a bit of time with Marcia too, even though it wasn't long enough.
Our trip home seemed shorter, yet longer. Hmmmmm. Funny how that works. It was broken up by stopping in Ohio, yet the road home is longer because you just don't want to go home yet! We did take time to get a hotel with a pool and enjoyed some amazing Mexican yummies. :-)
And now we're right back into the swing of daily life. Daryl is back at work...AC is back at school. But thank you God for a long Easter weekend! D is off all weekend, so we plan to go to church for the Good Friday service, and then of course on Sunday for a Resurrection Celebration! We're having friends over for our traditional Easter meal of ham with all the works.
Our neighbor girl was here today and asked us if we had given up anything for Lent. Her and her little sister and mom all have, and she was telling us about it. I was glad she mentioned it, because I had meant to teach the girls about it this year, but with travelling it slipped my mind. I have given up sugar (but only this week), and the girls decided they would give up candy for these last couple of days. Do any of you recognize/participate in Lent? I really like the idea of it; even though giving up something like sugar is a small price to pay, I am reminded of the amazing sacrifice that Jesus gave many times throughout my day. What other meaningful celebrations or traditions do you have around Easter?

thanks for the update and the pictures! I enjoyed our time together so much! Hopefully it will happen again before 3 years go by.
I have never given anything up for lent, although I think it is a good idea. We don't really have any Easter traditions, but reading your post makes me want to start some of our own. I'm impressed that you do a big dinner. What all does that include? I'm curious to know. I feel like I don't do well at these sorts of things.
we just observed Lent for the first time this year. i really like the daily reminder that Easter is coming. it has made me more aware of what this season is about. i didn't get the girls involved this year, but i'd like to next year. i gave up second helpings at meals and snacks between meals.
Great pics!
Just wanted to let you know i was here checkin out your blog!
Miss you.
Jenn
Sounds like a great trip. I remember that feeling, returning from our AZ trip, how the road seems so much longer on the way home. Hope you had a great weekend!
Oh... Hershey's Chocolate World? Sounds like somewhere I would like to go!
