Adrienne's version of picking blueberries.
Dress up time at Grandma's!
My princesses
Anna-Christina and the fish she caught! Small, but oh so yummy!
Probably the only camping we'll get to do this summer...in the back yard. :-(

Anna-Christina and her cousin Annika enjoying one of the only sunny days we had!
It was fun to have Grandma here for a few days!
Ready to go blueberry picking...too bad we got rained out!

Back in the Loop

It's been a fun week +.

Daryl's sister Jennifer and her kids were here from Sunday - Thursday. Then on Thursday Mom S. came and stayed until Sunday morning. We had a great time! It's so much fun to see the kids reconnecting with cousins and to have good chats with in laws. I know many people complain about their in laws, but I love mine! :-)

One of the highlights of our week (I know I mentioned this...) was going as moms and daughters, to see the Sound of Music. All I can say is "WOW". It was awesome. The girls had a blast hearing the songs they knew, etc. and the production was amazing. I think my absolute favourite parts were any time the "sisters" sang together. Beautiful. I can't say I didn't get choked up a time or two. And thanks to going to see the live production, my kids are now singing the songs at least 50 times a day instead of 20.

Now we're in Red Lake! My mom and dad came through on their way home from out west, and we all piled in the van to come "home" for one last summer get-away before school starts. Daryl will join us on Friday and stay for the weekend. I hope to eat a lot of walleye this week. :-)

Well, here I sit in the hall in my parents' upstairs. I've been waiting for all 3 girls to fall asleep. The 2 oldest were goofing off and all that goes with that, and Adrienne was crying every time I walked away. It has settled down now after almost 2 hours, so I think it's safe to go downstairs!

Good night.

HELP!

Hey everyone, I need some ideas. We are going to have various relatives in and out for the next 2 weeks, and I need meal ideas. I have burgers and lasagne in the freezer, but how boring is that? Give me some fresh stuff here, ok?

For some reason my brain is on a dry spell as far as meals go. For those of you relatives who are the ones coming, don't worry, I'm not stressing about it. I just need ideas! :-)

I'll be anxious to hear what you all have been cooking.

I posted the recipe for the tantalizing picture I put in the last post. :-)

Happy Anniversary to Us

Thanks everyone for your anniversary wishes.

I am truly, truly blessed to have the husband I do. He is my best friend and the love of my life!We had a great day yesterday, even though he was working. I think this year it really hit us how long we've been married and how much things have changed in the past 8 years. I'm so glad I look back without regrets (at least without major ones!), and that I've never been sorry that I married him (well, maybe for a couple minutes, but it passes :-) Of course things have not always been easy. Med school and residency has probably taken more of a toll on us than we even realize, not to mention all the other "normal" things that can come into a marriage. But God is faithful and it is so wonderful to look back and see the ways that He has been faithful to us. He has truly blessed us. I can honestly say that I am more in love with my husband now than I was on the day I married him!

So to celebrate, we went out for dinner for some great Thai food. We took our time and relaxed, and then decided to go shopping at Sal. Army! :-) We made another stop and headed home (yeah, we're getting old...). I had made pavlova so we wanted to come home and enjoy it before we got too tired out from our wild night on the town (we like to live on the edge). We ended the evening by looking at pictures from our honeymoon.

It was a good day!
