Today is the 4th day of spring break, if you count the weekend we just had.
Saturday was blissful. I stayed in my pj's until about 11:00, which is a big treat. Daryl and I sat and drank coffee and looked at stuff we wanted to show eachother on the internet. We took the Sonlight tour, and are also looking at some vehicles. The girls played happily and looked over our shoulders and read books and generally just hung out.
In the afternoon, I wanted to spend some time with just the 2 "big girls", so I gave them a choice of some things to do. Being the city girls they are (oh brother!) they chose to go to the mall and spend the cash that they've earned from doing chores.
A few weeks ago, we had a lot of talks with Anna-Christina about what she was going to spend her hard-earned money on. She was determined she wanted a Webkinz. When she first started talking about it, I had to Google it myself to see what in the world it was. Anyway, let me first say that I hate fads/trends that kids go through. I've seen way too many of them, and I don't want my kids to waste money on foolish things. I just would love to see them spend their money on books, valuable toys, craft supplies, etc. but alas, this was not to be. She was sure, sure, sure! that it was what she wanted to spend her money on.
(Don't get me wrong, there's nothing morally wrong with owning one of these little creatures. It's just not my first pick of ways to spend my money.)
Anyway, to make a long story short, she picked one out at the mall, and came home very happy.
So tonight my little project is to figure the website out for her so she can earn "money" and keep her little pet fed and happy. OH BROTHER!
(Although I do have to admit, it's kinda cute)
Yesterday was a fun day. After a short visit with friends (supposed to be a piano lesson for AC, but we got too busy talking), and another visit to the dr. for immunizations, we picked up Daryl and drove about an hours' drive to a very nice water park. We met some friends there and the kids had a blast. It was Emilie's first time swimming and she loved it. She gave me a nice little hickey on my shoulder from all her sucking. :-)
After that, we went out for supper, and then to DQ for dessert. Hey, the portions were small at the restaurant and even though the kids all had their own meals they were all saying how hungry they were when we left! We had a great time, and came home with happy, tired kids that went straight to bed without even brushing all the sugar out of their little teeth.
Today the girls and I had "list day". I'm starting to be amazed at what all I can assign them to and it actually gets done! Now that they've spent their money, they're eager to make more! Yeah for me! We all went nuts after supper (second wind?) and cleaned up the house. Daryl started washing windows, and even Adrienne was washing down dining room chairs and very proud of herself ("Adie's cleaning!").
We ended the day with a beautiful walk in the warm(ish) spring air! :-)
Emilie is 6 months old, and I want to post pictures of her soon. Can you believe she is my first baby to not be sitting up at this age?! I mean, she can sit for a bit, but not anything worth talking about. And she is up on her hands and knees, rocking. Crazy, isn't it? I'm going to laugh if she can crawl before she can sit!
Olivia said to me the other day, with an crazy, scheming look in her eyes (if you know her you can totally picture what look I'm talking about.):
"Mom, when you're dead and Daddy's still alive, I'm going to marry him!"
...the scary part is, I think she was serious.
The other day I told Adrienne not to do something (I forget just what it was). I could tell she was going to do it anyway, but before she did she said, "Close your eyes, Mom. Plug your ears".
So I did. NOT!
Over Easter, she asked me for candy, and I told her no. She cried and then yelled, "YOU'RE 'TUPID!" Oh my I laughed. I also smacked her little rear end, and tried not to let her see me laughing. But it struck me so funny.
Okay, I think I've rambled long enough. I don't blame you if you've skimmed through this. Oh, we don't know yet about moving. Still waiting to hear.

I read every single word! No skimming. Always good to hear what you are up to. It sounds like a wonderful family time together and a clean house too! That's great.
what a fun way to start my morning. i'm going to be laughing at your kids all day now. :) and that is exactly what L did - going on her hands and knees before she could sit up well. in the end, she did them both at about the same time, i think. can't wait to see those pictures of emilie!!
