...that my hair doesn't like living here. It's rebelling. I'm officially PonyTail Girl of the Year.
...how much I like CBC radio? Daryl got me listening to it when we first got married, and I'm kind of attached. I was very happy to hear that the hosts here are very pleasant to listen to (since sometimes their replacements are not).
...that I have tickets to go see the Rankin Family?
...that we've eaten close to 20 lbs of oranges since we live here (that's not including travel time), and on Saturday, Daryl bought 20 lbs of apples at the farmer's market, and they're half gone. And by the way, that's not a boast about eating healthy...since a lot of those apples were consumed in apple crisp with ice cream :-) And I'm going to make another one.
I'm just amazed at the way my kids eat these days.
...that I love having my washer and dryer on the main floor. Even though I have to go upstairs to put laundry away, I do it much faster since I can listen for the loads to be done and switch them around when they are.
And by the way, I am seriously grateful for those wonderful appliances.
...that milk is $7.53/4 litre here? Okay, I guess I did mention that. I just can't get over it. I bought some powdered milk to use for baking, etc. Not sure yet if it's worth it or not.
...that I love the skylight in the upstairs hall/office area? It's so sunny and bright up here.
...that we can buy seafood on the street corner? I like seeing the people who are actually catching the fish, and supporting them. We also saw homemade apple pies being sold out of a van! I wonder what else they'll sell when it gets warmer outside.

hey - good to hear from you. WOW! I didn't remember the $7 milk! gracious!!! And the washer and dryer - that's so wonderful. Give them a big kiss from auntie rachel and tell them she'll be over to use them soon...
In regards to your last post, I'm sorta embarrassed to admit this, not having kids and all, but I'm a big Kevin Leman fan. I love his writing and speaking style - he has great things to say and it just makes me laugh and laugh. When Dave and I go to Borders, I tend to find a book of his and get sucked in. How dumb is that? Anyway, I found this really neat website where people write in questions on all sorts of topics (marriage, parenting, health issues, etc. etc.) and respected speakers/authors answers give answers in the form of video clips. (iquestions.com) warning - it's addictive. Anyway, K. L. is on there a lot answering all sorts of questions and a lot of them are very entertaining. Like he was talking about as a child gets older, you should give them more allowance and have them responsible for their own expenses and it's also a great teaching tool. Like one time his 16 year old son left the trash out. He looked at it and said gross, we live in AZ, can't leave it out for a week to rot in the heat. So he took it out. Mentioned it to his son, who was apologetic. No big deal was made over it. But a week or so later when he was forking over all the cash, he gave him $10 less. His son said - WHAT? You're $10 short! The dad says no, YOU'RE 10 short. Remember the trash awhile back? The son couldn't believe it - 10 BUCKS FOR THE TRASH?? The dad was like hey, it was your decision, you hired someone with a PhD to take out the trash!!
I laughed and laughed. Anyway, it's probably more funny hearing him tell it. Sorry for the enormous comment. I'll leave you in peace now.
haha. (about the trash story). i ordered the kevin leman book! i need some new kids and friday wouldn't be too soon!
i can't believe the price of milk. that's so outrageous! are there no dairy farms in your corner of the country??
I enjoyed reading this, Robyn. I will correct one thing; I think you meant to write "gallon" and not "litre", right?
Your girls sound happy (satisfied) there whenever we talk!
Robyn, is that the old Rankin family you girls used to listen to?? How fun, love reading your posts,
Twila
Okay, I corrected. Thanks, Mom. And Twila, yes, that is the same Rankin Family :-) Rachel, you have always been interested in reading about child rearing. In fact, I remember being slightly baffled at all the Dobson books in your room when we were kids :-) But think how smart you'll be when you have your own!!!
Jenni, someday soon I would like to go to a dairy farm and see if we can buy directly...We'll see if I get there.
Rankin family! Wow, they're still around?? Take pictures! I can not think of them without thinking of Harvey. Why is that????
BTW, I mix powdered milk with whole milk. It's not bad. The whole milk helps the taste a lot.
Thanks for posting!
