Thoughts

I've been thoroughly enjoying the New Living Translation of the Bible that I've been reading for the past few months.

I've taken to reading the same chapter 3-5 days in a row, just to absorb it. It seems when I do that, I find something new in the chapter that I hadn't seen before.

Here is what I read this morning. There is so much packed into one verse. Just read it a couple times and see what you hear.

And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He
will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent
fear of him during your time as "foreigners in the land." I Peter 1:1

I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be in the world, but to be foreigners. Here's another one that might wake you up. I know I can find myself thinking that if I'm not doing "worldly" things, this doesn't apply to me. But it SOoooo does. Check this out:

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. I John 2:16
