Hey everyone, I need some ideas. We are going to have various relatives in and out for the next 2 weeks, and I need meal ideas. I have burgers and lasagne in the freezer, but how boring is that? Give me some fresh stuff here, ok?
For some reason my brain is on a dry spell as far as meals go. For those of you relatives who are the ones coming, don't worry, I'm not stressing about it. I just need ideas! :-)
I'll be anxious to hear what you all have been cooking.

Last night I made toasted ham, brie, and pear sandwhiches yummm. Try it! It was good to hear from you too. I am planning on calling you one of these days as well. You know how it goes. Love you. Rhonda Sch.
here are two of our favorites that are so simple you don't need recipes.
Place a chicken breast on a pc of heavy duty tin foil. Cover with salsa and mexicorn. Fold tin foil. Bake at 425 or 450 until done. (aprox. 20 -25??) open up foil and add chredded cheese. put back in oven until cheese is melted.
Here's another one:
Bake chicken breast with Shake N' Bake according to directions on box. Serve over lettuce with black beans (rinsed), whole kernel corn (drained), shredded cheddar cheese and ranch dressing. so simple, but very good! Nice to serve with whole wheat bread or rolls.
how about bbq beef in the crockpot - my way. :D
or taco salad - you could freeze the meat ahead of time.
or chicken alfredo pizza
My mind is blank right now as far as main meals go but I like to always have at least one big ziplock of browned hamburger with onion in the feezer. Great for those "um....I didn't start early enough" meals.
Sunday chicken is always really good and easy. Serve it with a salad or hot vegie.
I like to have bread, muffins, cookies, cinnamon rolls etc. in the freezer too if company is coming. Saves being in the kitchen all the time once they're there.
Hope you have fun!
Here's one of my favorite "go to" recipes for company:
Maple BBQ Chicken
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
2 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Place everything in crockpot and cook on low for 7-8 hours until chicken is done. Remove meat, shred and return to sauce. Serve on buns.
Super EASY!
what about israeli breakfast? and who all is coming to visit?
There seems to be a chicken theme.... but here's another.
Place chicken parts in foil. Sprinkle sliced onions over. Pour BBQ sauce over that. Wrap up foil. Cook on BBQ until done.
Slice potatoes into round slices and boil until SLIGHTLY tender. Drain. Toss in oil and spices (such as Montreal Steak Spice or seasoning salt and crushed garlic) and BBQ.
I'm in a food slump lately too..... so I think I'll try some of these other suggestions you got!
Have fun with relatives!
well, i've been kind of in a slump too, but the other night when we had company i made: pork loin (seasoned with cracked pepper - not by me, unfortunately. don't judge me, ok?), mashed potatoes, green beans w/garlic, french bread, and for dessert: mix a bunch of vanilla ice cream with a bunch of crushed oreos. put a layer of crushed oreos in a pan, but the mixture of ice cream in, then whipped cream, then more crushed oreos. yummy. :) you can't go wrong.
hey some of these things sound good...i may try them myself. I made a fruit pizza the other day..that was yummy! A little more time consuming though...gotta cut up all the fruit.

how can you be in a meal slump when you are in the land of farmer sausage?!?!?!?! :-D Or pork for that matter! On that note i'd recommend BBQ'd ribs and a nice garden salad. (that's what i'd have if i lived in Manitoba and it was summer... two things i'm wishing for at the moment.) I've begun to notice that you and Rhonda seem to blog a lot about food, is that a family thing? :-D heehee.
How about a belly picture sometime? Whenever you get a chance? :-)
