Just Stuff

So here we are. It's hard to believe the days are flying by as fast as they are. Although sometimes it seems rather slow when we haven't talked to Daryl for a long time.

We all got to talk to Daryl last night, for about 15 minutes. He seems to be doing well. He says people are still taking good care of him and feeding him well. Work is very difficult though. I asked him if he's picking up more French, and he said he is, but it doesn't really help since most of the patients only speak Malagasy. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can talk again, but the cell phone service doesn't always work, and he has to borrow someone's phone when he wants to text us to call him. Anyway, at least we know he's alive and well and hopefully not seeing too many cockroaches in the shower.

We had a nice evening tonight with M & R's small group from church. It was fun to meet more people from other countries. It was a dessert night, so that is always a bonus! (We made a strawberry trifle from scratch. Mmmm)

Yesterday we had a nice day out with the "little girls". Caitlyn and Anna-Christina were at school, so we took the others out for lunch. We got to drive through a different part of 'Tana and it is always so fascinating to me to watch the people. They are just packed on the sides of the road. Some are washing clothes, some are selling things (everything from raw meat to different varieties of rice to old shoes to cheap toys, you name it), some are bathing, some are begging. It is very interesting, to say the least. Rhonda's truck is from Europe so she drives on the right side and I sit in the middle. Oh boy! There has been a few times where I thought for sure we would hit something coming towards us. (Don't get me wrong, she's a great driver, I'm just not used to it!) Anyway, it was nice to get out.

The girls are very excited about tomorrow. We promised them a movie night/sleepover in the family room. So we will have to post pictures later, once the moms have recuperated! It's fun to give them something to plan for and look forward to. Our girls are really missing their daddy, and I think their cousins just might be getting a little tired of having their life disrrupted!

I know this is not a lot of news, but it's better than nothing, right??? I have to get to bed before I fall out of my chair.

Even if it doesn't seem "newsy" we still want to hear it! Glad you posted. Nice to hear from you! Hug all the girls. I can't remember when you'll be back, but I hope to see you in Winnipeg in July.

Hey Robyn.
Glad to hear from you! We think about you very often and we are praying for you guys too. When does Daryl get back??? Hang it there.
Driving on the opposite side of the road sounds crazy!! But glad to hear you are getting out and seeing the country and the people.
Take care and keep those posts coming.

yes, yes, I agree--any post is great reading material. Just to hear how life is there and also, it keeps us better informed so we pray accordingly. I do feel for you in the separation part of it all. I guess the best thing to try and remember is how small 3 weeks is in all of eternity, eh? Even that might not sound helpful some days, I know. Enjoy every day to the fullest because soon you'll be back in the big city and wonder if it was all a dream. Love you, Mom
