We're Here!

We survived the long trip east! Thank God for parents who made the trek with us. We seriously don't know what we would have done without them. We would not have gotten here on time, that's for sure.

Anyway, all went smoothly...The kids did great, thanks to Grandma entertaining them, cds to listen to, a gift bag full of new things to do from M, and the gift of a dvd player from W and G! Wow, we are blessed.

The roads were good most of the time. We passed through some treacherous highways in NB (I think that's where we were...can't remember now) and I was glad I wasn't responsible for that big UHaul.

We arrived here a few hours later than intended, but everything worked out and we were into our house by about 4pm. Dad and Daryl unloaded A LOT of stuff and the neighbor came over to help for a bit. When we arrived, our realtor had turned up the heat and had the propane stove going. There was also a poinsetta and a bottle of wine on the counter from the previous owners! What a nice welcome.

We crashed into beds that night and slept in Tuesday morning. What a treat to wake up and not have to think of driving again. Dad and Daryl finished up the UHaul and returned it and Mom and I unpacked and kept kids busy.

The girls think it is great to have their bedrooms upstairs (this was the one thing they really wanted in a new house) and they're spending a lot of time up there. Daryl and I are enjoying the house too. Of course it has a few things that aren't so great...I'm a little sad about not having a bigger back yard. But we really like the house itself. I will try and post pictures soon.

Today we actually put up the Christmas tree. I didn't want to, because it means more putting away when we get back from holidays. But they insisted, and being we have such a small tree, I gave in.

Things we are enjoying:
-warmer weather
-a great radio station that plays a wide variety of Christmas music around the clock
-seeing the ocean every day
-being alone together
-Brown Sugar Buttons (cookies)
-clementines
-a quiet neighborhood
-finding things I forgot I had
-setting up a new place that doesn't need work
-our bidet :-) tee hee... Emilie's really liking it.
-seafood (yes, it's cheap[er])
-new sights and smells and tastes (saltcod cakes, baked beans and green tomato chow)
-driving through "bush" to get to the mall
-having phone and internet!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear some news and to know that you are settling into your new home! Wow... and how great that your parents traveled with you! Where are you going for the holidays?

Your small back yard will probably be compensated for by other things.... like the nearby ocean!

Looking forward to pictures! :-)

I already am missing all of you and this brings tears to my eyes! You seem so far away and I think I feel it most when I realize that now (like your sisters) I have to check the clock before calling you. I'll just tell your readers that I think you did a superb job of house picking and that it suits your family well for now.
