Weekend

*sigh*

We just had a wonderful weekend.
One of the docs that D works with is out of town, and loaned us his cottage for the weekend. It was wonderful. It's in what I consider one of the most beautiful areas here, a very quiet inlet with only the occasional boat passing by.

My highlight was having my coffee and breakfast on the patio overlooking the water both mornings. If you didn't know you were looking at salt water, you'd think it was NW Ontario! Completely calm and peaceful - beautiful!! The girls spent hours (literally!) in and around the water, collecting hermit crabs, sea stars and the like. It wasn't a completely sandy beach, so it was good for finding things like that.

Other than that we read, watched a few movies, had a friend out to visit, and just spent time together. It was the best vacation I've had for awhile!

Now we're looking forward to a good week ahead! Even though D leaves tomorrow for 4 days, we have lots planned...we're praying for good weather because we have 10 days of swimming lessons booked!

God is great, life is good!

Sounds so lovely! Glad you could have a get away like that. I was wondering if it's possible to ever really have a "restful" stress free vacation while still parenting 4 kids, but it sounds like you did. = )

Rachel, you're right..."restful" gets a new definition when you have 4 kids along :-) BUT! We are finding that the girls are at a new stage this summer: we can let them roam without too much concern, and Emilie is pretty independent now, etc. This weekend I spent A LOT of time sitting and reading and sunning myself while they played in the water alone! yay! :-)

Sounds wonderful! I too agree that it is wonderful to know that there might be restful vacations in the years ahead. :) Isaiah is starting swimming lessons today. I'm a little nervous for him, but he seems excited.
